Grumpy
Milpa is a great Mexican cafe. Indeed, with a James Beard nomination, I totally understand why. The food is really good. This place was recommended to me and I am more than happy to pass on the recommendation to all. Located about halfway between Red Rock Casino and Durango Casino ( 4226 S Durango Dr Ste 101, Las Vegas, NV 89147 ).
To demonstrate, the day we went we concentrated on tacos. Most importantly, my friend who recommended the place knew exactly what he wanted. Three fish taco. Made with mahi in a beer batter, cabbage, pico de gallo, and chipotle mayo. And for a very good reason. Outstanding!
Milpa Food
Since I was new, I wanted to try a variety. So I ordered one Mushroom, Fish, Ribeye, and Suadero taco. All four were very good. In similar fashion, the fish taco was very tasty. Likewise, I very much enjoyed the mushroom taco too with a earthy taste.
The ribeye and suadero were also very good. Or course, everything about the tacos are very tasty. To be sure, I know I will definitely be returning to try more of their menu. For example, I wanna try the cauliflower taco, and of course shrimp taco.
Also, their menu consists of harvest bowls. They all sound very yummy. Undoubtedly, I know I wanna try one. Most importantly, I am a big fan of Huevos Rancheros. So I know I must try this. I can only imagine how they taste on the tostada.
Speaking of tastada, you are able to order their tortillas by the dozen to take home and enjoy on your own time. In fact, they even have coffee. I have not tried this yet.
In contrast, the only down side I can see is the location. While, it is far from home and there is not much else around the establishment.
In conclusion, if you are looking for some of the best tacos in town, try Milpa. I enjoy everything they serve up. Moreover, the staff is super friendly and go beyond expectation. Most importantly, the atmosphere is very inviting. For that reason, I know I will be returning to try more. Lastly, more information on Milpa site.
