City View Trail in Henderson is 1.3-mile trail that offers scenic views. Specifically, outstanding views of The Strip and entire Las Vegas valley. It is moderate in terms of difficulty. Location of the trail is opposite side of the Desert Willow Golf Course via Carmel Valley St. Corner of Cypress Mesa Dr and Tiger Lake Ave. The nearest real address is (1835 Cypress Mesa Dr, Henderson, NV 89012).

However, it is important to note that this trail is located on private property and is only open to residents and their guests. Nonetheless, Non-residents using the trail can be fined. Conversely, I have been going to City View Trail over the past 5 plus years. While only recently has the trail been open to residents and their guests “only”.

Equally importantly, the trail provides hikers with beautiful views of the surrounding area with gradual elevation gain of 285 feet and offers rocky terrain with several benches with no shade. For example, tt took me about 20 minutes to get from parking lot to the top. Nonetheless, a total round trip time of 45 min.

Chiefly, there are really great views of the city and the entire valley. Not sure why this is closed to general public. No one was around when I went last time. That is, it is one of the best views. For instance, I happened to go on a Monday around 11am.
In conclusion, if you want a fabulous view of the Las Vegas valley and the Strip, head up to City View Trail. No one has ever said anything to me, but in contrast it appears I have been lucky from what I have read. Lastly, you can find more information on City View Trail at AllTrails site.

From what I can determine, the city of Henderson maintains the trail and parking area. To classify it as private property seems illegal somehow. There is a building in the parking area too, which I wonder if it was built at the expense of the taxpayers.
I plan on reaching out to the city to determine actual ownership and who built and maintains the building, parking and trail. If we as taxpayers are paying for it, then there needs to be public access. If the MacDoland ranch group wants to claim private use and ownership, then any public money spent on establishing the trail and maintaining needs to be paid back to the city.
Did you find anything out about actual ownership of the trail?
