Nevada State Museum is located at the Springs Preserve near downtown. It is an institution that brings together Nevada history and natural heritage. Founded in 1982, the museum’s mission is to educate the public about the states past and its natural wonders.
For example, the State Museum spans 70,000 square feet and features a 13,000-square-foot exhibit gallery centerpiece. Specifically As you enter, you come face to face with a 20,000-year-old Columbian Mammoth skeleton. In addition a description of the Nevada critters. To illustrate, visitors can see Nevada state fossil, the Shonisaurus. Likewise, step inside a stalactite cave and see the intricate formations. In similar fashion, witness holographic figures narrate the tale of Nevadas miners.
The museum also houses items related to the development of Las Vegas and the natural history of the area. You can even see early downtown.
