Valley of Fire is Nevada first state park. This is a great day trip. See some really great features. Be aware they shut down a lot of trails during summer time. May 15 through October 1. There is lots of cool things to see while there. I always have fun and enjoy the drive. This is on the same level as a day trip to Death Valley. I highly suggest visiting this place. To demonstrate, the recommended route is Las Vegas 15 north to exit 75, Valley Of Fire Moapa. Be sure to visit the Chevron while you drive through. Grab last second item and or facilities. Keep heading east through the park visiting all the great sites. Exit on the east side near Elephant Rock. Head back to Las Vegas south on Highway 167. The trip is 5 hours and 200 miles.
First, the Beehives is one of the first stops. I always like stopping here. A great shot is here of the beehive rock.

Valley of Fire Atlatl Rock
The next spot is Atlatl Rock ( throwing stick). This is a great stop. Be sure to check out the petroglyphs.
Followed by Arch rock. This is a cool view too. Proceed going east and get to Petrified Logs. Walk the short tail to see the Petrified Logs.

Valley of Fire First State Park
Halfway, the Visitor Center is a must stop spot. Get some education on Valley of Fire here. Learn how this was all once a sea. Learn about the wildlife.
Continue down on White Domes Road for round trip of 11 miles. You can see more points of interest. Fire Wave, Fire Canyon.
Seven Sisters
Another stop will be Seven Sisters. This is another cool rock formation. They provide toilets and picnic tables (almost everywhere).
The east gate is at the Elephant Rock.
Hence, this is a grate spot to visit. Just be aware the summer heat hours are May 15 till October 15. Specifically for heat reasons. You can get back to Las Vegas using highway 167 is a fun drive or head back to I15. Furthermore, here is a link to a great map for Valley Of Fire State Park.
In conclusion, there are great things to be seen on a 5 hour road trip from Las Vegas. You have to visit this place to get a true appreciation of the area we are in.
