Viva Las Arepas

Viva Las Arepas is a great food spot. Severing up authentic Venezuelan food. Every time I go to First Friday in the Arts District I see this place full of people. I have been wanting to stop in many times and never made it. I finally made it a point and was not disappointed. It is located at the south end of the Arts District on Las Vegas Blvd ( 1616 S Las Vegas Blvd #120, Las Vegas, NV 89104 ).

First and foremost, I found this place to be very clean and inviting. Additionally, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Also, they were very willing to answer all my questions. Furthermore, they are very nice and welcoming. There is a lot of seating inside and outside on the patio.

To illustrate, they offer two sauces to pick from. There is a Guasacaca Sauce which was extremely tasty. I would put that stuff on anything. Very tasty, and I highly suggest you get some. Great for dipping. In addition, they have Spicy sauce which is also tasty but does bring the heat. If you want a hot dipping sauce you should go with this one.

For example, I started off with my Empanadas. I ordered two of them. The Chicken Empanada and a Beef Empanadas. The chicken was very tasty and is in a nice pastry. Dipping it in the Guasacaca sauce makes it go down fast. In similar fashion, the Beef Empanada was even better. It has beef with bell peppers and onions. The beef one was my top pick out of the two.

Afterwards I went for the Wood Fire Chicken Arepas. I have never had a Arepa before. It is a flatbread made from cornmeal. It makes for a great Venezuela sandwich. They definitely do not skimp on the filling. They wrap it in a tightly wrapped paper. It helps to keep the filling in. I had so much it was a little over whelming. You can also get add on with your Arepa. I picked Avocado. Next time I will try a fried egg next time. Speaking for fried egg, I will get the shredded beef Arepa with a fried egg next time.

Additionally, I tried a Pastelitos. It is more flaky than the Empanadas. I went with the Guava and Cheese. At the same time, this was the most sweet selection out of all the items I picked. It worked very well as a desert item left for the end. The Guava was very tasty. They even offer ice cream. I will try that next hot day I visit.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a bite to eat around the Stratosphere. You should stop in and give this place a try. In the same way, you will be pleasantly surprised. I told them if everything tastes good I will return. Their response was “You will definitely return”, of course I will. Very good. Lastly, you can get more information on the Viva Las Arepas site.
