Wax Rabbit is a speakeasy located on the way into Mijo Mexican restaurant at the Durango Casino. This is a really cool spot to grab a drink or two with friends. Specifically, the drinks are good. The atmosphere is great. Furthermore, the service is even better.
To demonstrate, you can try to find the entrance by visiting Mijo restaurant. Specifically, going down the hallway you will take the first right. There you will find a wall of bottles. Pull on the right side center of the wall to open the door.
The evening we went we were early (before 9pm). Typically you will need a reservation for a table as this place will fill up. Once the DJ shows up the place fills up.
To demonstrate, the view upon entrance is really cool.
Likewise, there is a large bar area which will accommodate about half a dozen people for seating. While you are there you can try to count how many rabbits you spot behind the bar. The bar area is all color red. Lights are dim.
To clarify, this is a Tequila and Mezcal speakeasy. There is a large selection to pick from. I am not really a tequila man so I did not sample any the evening I went. Despite, I am more a vodka preference.
Wax Rabbit Drinks
In fact, the evening we went we had two separate drinks. In brief, Vodka lemon drop and Vodka Cosmopolitan.
The Cosmopolitan also was with Titos vodka. Typically a cosmo is made with vodka, cranberry juce, lime juice, and a orange liqueur or triple sec.
Also, the Titos vodka lemon drop is a sour and sweet cocktail served in martini glass. It is derived from the lemon drop candies. It typically contains vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup, and triple sec.
To rephrase it, the speakeasy is really fun. Hidden away from the rest of the world. Even standing right in front of the door still cant find your way in, unless you know. These are always fun. There several hidden throughout Las Vegas. My previous speakeasy visit was Here Kitty Kitty located at Resort World.
In conclusion, Wax Rabbit is a great speakeasy. Serving up wonderful cocktails. I had a really great time when I went. I would highly recommend this place for a special drink with a friend. Lastly, you can get more information on Wax Rabbit site.
